this morning i went to visit a house church called street level brotherhood located in parammata and out of expectation the church presented in very contradict way from any other church I have came across, perhaps the church reminds slightly of Peter’s deliverance ministry though. The church is located in less fortunate environmental condition with very basic and least fashionable but practical facility. As soon as I walked in the door, that was rather a weird surrounding with all the pictures of heaven motor bike and members dressed in very simple and worn off clothing. None of them really look any similar with the people I have met in school…they look a bit….demonized in auntie’s description but more likely in the result of piled up brokenness in their past. The founder of the church called Craig described the members as their fully openness and honesty to reveal their identity including weakness and hardships in life and put them in the table for people’s help. It is a very different culture from hillsong but with very detailing personal attachment.
The ministry in fact was established in concept of reaching out to the people who are in the edge of life circumstances and suffering in life brokenness …what they call street people, majority of church members are also involved in motorbike club too. First 1 minute I found difficult to accept the fact that people like them will be involved in church but what God has taught me was I used to think people need to dress in formal attire and speak in certain ways to be qualified to be a good Christian but the fact is I knew so little about His redemption plan that He loves the whole humility including the people who look least likely. God is the God who looks into our heart , not our outward appearance or speaking manner. He is Sovereign and He uses all different styles of church to reach to different people groups. He uses different methods to speak into our spirit. why would I box Him and His work? Why did I judge the book by its cover? They may not look the best presented people on earth but the appearance can never be the weakness to deny their passion to God. We are not the mistake. We are created in a way to fulfill our life purpose given by the Lord. He shows no favorism. It is never about us, but it is all for Him. It is Him.
Looking back to myself that I used artificial makeup in attention to cover up what I call ugliness. Gradually I am living and suffering in the identity based on people’s opinion on me rather than in Christ. When I was encouraging people in brotherhood to only live in the identity in Christ rather than in what we have or what we have done nor people’s approval, have I choosed to life the identity yet?
God reaches out people in all different ways as different part of days work for different functions, why shall we judge others? What I have known about Him and His plan is so little …so little understanding gives me no place to judge. The ultimate fact is we are all His beloved children so He reach out to His children in different ways with different methods.
